Terrigal United Football Club were awarded the Bill Pluim Cup which rewards the club with the highest amassed total number of competition points gained in the junior leagues.
2022 was the first year we have received this award since my first year as club captain in 2018. To say we as a club are proud is an understatement. Yes, we have a natural advantage with the size of of our incredible club, however there are a lot of parts that combine for the recipient of this award in any given year.
To be successful at the level that warrants this award, it starts at the beginning of the year with grading, followed by selection of the teams and coaches – but that’s only the beginning. From there, it takes the right mixture of coaching, players and supportive parents to make our teams compete to the best of their ability.
In 2022, more than any other year, the mix had to work hard with constant disruptions to training and match day schedules.
When a club is rewarded with this honor, it’s testament to all of these elements – this year in particular has been challenging and our results have been driven a very successful A grade program which achieved the following.
5 x League Champions (of 10 available competitions)
7 x Grand Finalists
3 x League Champion / Premiers doubles
The club also had considerable success in other grades with our 13Bs going through undefeated in their division claim the League Title.
At a committee level, the newly installed Youth Football Department also played a massive role in helping TUFC win the Bill Pluim Cup – this is something we will look to develop in the coming years to enhance the football experience at Terrigal United.
Congratulations to all of our Junior players, coaches and teams, this award is YOURS.
Yours in Football,
Troy Pegler and Tim Clarke
