Round 6 Terrigal v Killarney
First Grade
1-0 loss
Round 6 for the Olasses finished up with a close 1-0 defeat to Killarney. Despite the result our first grade girls walked away knowing they had put in 100%.
With an even start to the match, there were few chances for both sides in the first half. Gilbert, Power and Kavanagh were put to the test with a few over hit through balls, giving them some early running metres. While at the other end of the park our strong back line defence combinations of Henderson, Johnston, Brooks and Nicholls, along with goalkeeper Vella, kept Killarney to nil throughout the first half.
A lucky volley from the edge of the box saw Killarney go 1-0 up early in the second half. The Olasses stayed in the game with some great ‘zig zag’ passing by Piltz, Shearim and Toms-Wedge through the midfield breaking down the opposition to create some more close chances. Fresh legs saw Noro, Wrigley, Moyes and Shorrocks come into the game. The last few minutes saw some penalties go each way, with our girls unlucky not to get a late opportunity. The final result remained at 1-0.
The girls hold their heads high, ready to come out firing against a tough Southern side this coming Sunday.
