Round 5 Terrigal vs Umina
First Grade
4-1 Loss
Round 4 for the Olasses saw a 4-1 defeat, however there was some great football played by the girls and some real positives to take away from it.
Umina started strong, testing our back 4 with a few early breaks. Terrigal found their feet and created opportunities in the first half, with some great play through the middle by Shearim, Piltz, Noro & Toms-Wedge finding strikers Power & Kavanagh who were making some fantastic runs through the Umina back line. Umina battled hard and their efforts were rewarded with a goal, going into half time 1-0 up.
The second half saw some brilliant work by full backs Gilbert and Brooks, working their way up the lines and creating plenty of goal scoring opportunities. Umina stayed on top of their game and managed to bag another 3, but with 15 minutes to go momentum changed after an incredible solo run from the midfielder Piltz, with a superb strike finding the back of the net. Fresh legs coming on gave the team a real boost with subs Wrigley, Moyes & Shorrocks shaking things up in the centre of the field. The girls worked hard right up to the final whistle but couldn’t quite manage to secure another. Lots to build on for next week and the team look forward to facing Killarney in round 5.
