First Grade
3-1 win🧡
A great second round for the Terrigal first grade girls seeing a 3-1 win over Woongarragh.
Starting out strong in the first half, and dominating possession and play, all the way from unbreakable defence, to the solid midfield and the speedy strikers. In the 25th minute we saw the first goal for the olasses, coming from the right wing, to midfield and ultimately ending with an impressive strike from captain Emma Power, making it 1-0 and a solid start.
Keeper Elyse Vella was strong and solid in her position, providing a good foundation for the back line. From then on the play between defenders, Lily Brooks, Caitlin Johnston, Sophie Piltz and Karla Nicholls, switching it across the field, with fullbacks pressing high. This led to a second amazing goal from left winger Indiana Moyes, assisted by a powerful cross from striker Tiegan Kavangh.
Half-time and 2-0 up with great possession the girls were looking to keep the passing to a maximum and running to a minimum, due to the hot and dry weather. Second half saw the likes of super-sub Kate Gilbert coming in as left wing to assist in an unstoppable goal from speedy striker Jordyn Toms-wedge. This making the score 3-0.
Woongarrah began looking dangerous in attack, changing their formation to challenge our defence, and slipping away a painful goal, making it 3-1. This however, gave the defence a boost and became even more solid to stop their quick attackers, holding out until full-time.
A really good and challenging game for the olasses, keeping possession and plays between all positions, from defence to midfielders and attackers. Creating great opportunities, and proving a great basis of play for the upcoming season!
