Match Report vs Toukley
15 April 2018-04-16
Third Grade
A wild and windy day greeted the players at the Orange Bowl for kick off in our first home game of the season and if the wind didn’t blow Toukley off the park Terrigal did thanks to a sharing caring 9 goal romp. We had to wait at least 8 seconds for the opener which leaves the coach needing to insist on a quicker start in future games. Poor old Toukley were as cold as the frozen Chicken Burgers in the canteen (c’mon Margo smarten up). I could list all the goal scores but I don’t know who they were. I do know the coach has a selection conundrum coming up as he has 2 of his speed freaks in Jury and Adlard due back soon. What a wonderful Dilemma.
Reserve Grade
After a fantastic performance of the Thirds Ressy’s was under pressure to continue the dominance of the Orange and Black. Pressure? These guys thrive on pressure; they normally give up a 2 goal start just so they can run it down. Obviously, the coach decided on a more cautious approach due to the fact that he needed to reverse last week’s result and we were at home, which we need to turn into a fortress (Not like fortress Frost what a disaster ha ha). A comprehensive 5-0 victory highlighted by inspirational substitutions and words of wisdom. Looking forward to more of the same on Wednesday Night.
First Grade
After a disappointing loss, the previous weekend and a midweek FFA Cup game which resulted in a 3-2 win over Sans Souci away from home a home encounter with Toukley was maybe the fixture we needed. Having said that we haven’t managed to beat them for the last two years and they made the playoffs last season. They haven’t been travelling that well so it was important to dominate early on and although we scored through Tudds we never managed to get on top and in an instant, they equalized and the old demons reared their ugly heads and déjà vu was on the cards but we scored again and you could sense that we were a yard quicker both physically and mentally. I can’t recall all scorers in out 8-1 win but the standouts were Tudds with a brace, Chris’s free kick and Dicko on the scoresheet after 15 shots. Jai needed another 10 shots if he wanted to score. A good result we need to consolidate on this Wednesday vs. Gosford. A special mention to the coaches looking dapper in their new gear. Wouldn’t look out of place at EDSAAC.
