Match report vs. Avoca
Sunday 29 July 2018
Third Grade
Lovely weather greeted all those in attendance making for a love-in atmosphere for those of a privileged vintage, would the product on display match the ambience of the situation. You’re gonna have to travel far and wide to see what happened during this game and wonder why,why do I turn up?
Haven’t I got a sock drawer that needs to be arranged at this time of day? Maybe a dental appointment to attend.
But really folks you had to see the first goal Jury laid on for Avoca by committing the cardinal sin of turning over possession in the final third and then the second goal down to the famous Duffy bobble!
But cometh the hour cometh the man, Scotty Austin the back post ghost then the best volleyer since the Fed! THANK GOD they subbed him because there’s no way he would have passed the ball to allow us to win, Fonti jr.🙂
Reserve Grade
Ressy’s won 3-2 and a very important win it is in view of the situation as far as the competition is currently situated and the upcoming fixtures we have coming up.
Our destiny is in our own hands and we need to play positively and to our strengths. The game this weekend is virtually a final elimination game.
If we are serious about competing in September we need 3 points vs. Berkeley, nothing else will suffice, the guys can rise to the occasion and achieve this goal.
First Grade
This season has been one to remember for the club due to the fact that all 3 grades are genuine semi chances.
1sts have been performing better than every other side apart from Killarney in so far as defeats are concerned as we have only lost 4 times this season.
Last week vs. Avoca continued on our unbeaten streak, let’s not have any illusions about how hard that it will be to continue with 2 home games vs. Berkeley and Killarney in the next fortnight.
The positive to take out of last week is that we dominated possession and scored good goals through Eric and Zac and defended better than we have done for a long time.
Consistency in defending will be paramount in the coming weeks. It was good to see Jai back from the start this week and we will be further strengthened by the return of Tudds this week. Let’s hope for heady days ahead!
